Government preparing to remove paperwork to boost exports

Kathmandu, Sept. 10: The government is
committed to put to an end the paperwork to motivate the entrepreneurs and
boost the export the goods.
The Secretary at the Office of the Prime
Minister and Council of Ministers, Krishna Hari Banskota, said that the
government has made necessary preparations for managing the export of goods to
foreign countries.
The country is depending on only import
of goods; therefore, to promote entrepreneurs towards export the related
paperwork is going to be narrowed down, said Secretary Banskota.

The
entrepreneurs have been complaining about the legal and the paperwork involved
which leads to unnecessary hassles; so, this decision is going to be taken, he
added.
The
export process is to be simplified, revenue tax will be made scientific, social
security for workers and flexible Labour Law will be implemented soon, said
Banskota.
Stating
that the government was committed to issue the Labour Law and make arrangements
for social security of labourers simultaneously, he said the import of luxury
items is being discouraged and measures are being taken to increase export.
Similarly,
the investment board would be made more effective, load-shedding would be
reduced, one-stop service guaranteed and special initiatives taken to minimize
administrative redtape and enhancing the confidence of the private sector
towards government services.
Secretary
Banskota said that the government is committed to implement the provision of
providing a loan of up to Rs. 500 thousand to the women entrepreneurs to one
per cent women entrepreneurs, to provide the waiver and facilities for bringing
in foreign investment in hydroelectricity generation, and to become flexible on
the one-door system.
The
meeting of the Nepal Business Forum and the Private Sector Development
Committee on September 7 has already taken a decision to prepare a special
action plan to that end, he said.
Secretaries
at the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation,
the Ministry of Urban Development, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of
Labour, the Executive Director at the Investment Board, the Deputy Governor of
Nepal Rastra Bank and high government and private sector officials were present
in the meeting.
The
Secretaries attending the meeting were also directed to immediately formulate
the action plan for spending Rs. 10 billion that is deposited in the Cottage
Industries Development, Women Entrepreneurship and Technology Development Fund.
The
meeting also discussed on issuing a white paper with the legal provisions
regarding visa and simplified procedure for return of investment at will so as
to attract foreign investment and create an environment of investor confidence.
